It seems like the protests across the nation and all over the world would make a difference. Unfortunately… If you read the news every day you will see a different incident involving police and civilians everyday.
I feel this article by Atlanta Star : Bun B Calls Out Houston Police Officers Who Approved of a Racist Meme… is yet another example of why police reform is necessary.
I am like many Americans right now; no matter your walk of life or political party who is sick of the heightened displays of racism because of the behavior & speeches made by the 45 th POTUS.
So many Americans have voiced their opinion about the protestors and acts of looting. The part I don’t understand is why is there no outcry against racism and the acts that are committed daily across the country. Why aren’t Americans as outraged about that as they are about the protest about racism & police brutality❓
I just don’t understand how any decent human being wouldn’t be appalled by this behavior. Instead I have watched so many commentators describe these acts as patriotic, standing your ground, and worst of all calls to activism as far as death threats and / or wishes.
The stories I read by reporting shows in other countries about the U. S. is disheartening to say the least. COVID has thrown our country in survival mode. My only hope is that our core values will be left standing and those that believe in them for the good of all will continue to fight for that to be the standard.
In the midst of a pandemic with the highest numbers of any country at one point in time we are still fighting internal battles. The biggest one is racism. Articles and stories on the news like this have divided our country, so many households and families.
There seems to be three classes of Americans right now the far right who believe in capitalism and do not want to help people unless they look like them or monetary gain is involved for them. In that case they will move mountains, break laws and ignore the voice and plight of the common working class and it’s people of lower class.
The class that is divided by color the most is Americans who want nothing but to continue their life as planned. Racism is an ugly truth they have nothing to do with and will not speak against but also will not actively participate in. In other words “All Lives Matter”.
The unfiltered American voice you hear in the streets, the average American on social media, or independent news outlet and those not colored with political influence who cry out for justice and sadly are ignored and called “the looters”, & ” the rioters” . They must be bored on unemployment collecting free money and food stamps is another phrase used to describe the protestors.
America is divided and daily confrontation ensues. Everyday we are reminded of the nation we truly are. One that has never truly embraced one another as respected individuals with seperate interests and / or likes or a nation of people tolerant enough to have and enforce laws for equality.
When will America respect one another so we all can win? I heard someone say:
Everyone loves capitalism until socialism has to bail your country out.
I can’t count the times I’ve read
“I’m so glad I don’t live in that country right now”.
Regardless if that statement is founded off the high number of COVID infection in the U. S. or the racial divide affecting our country right now. Maybe, even both as if the one or other isn’t enough. It’s definitely the general consensus felt around the world right now.
The worst part of it all is there is no end in sight or light at the end of the tunnel. As COVID continues to dominate states in the Midwest and Southern half of the U. S. Protest against police brutality and racism are still going strong daily while our Congress continue to delay a decision on police reform.
Why is it so hard to open that door of slavery, take a hard objective look and apply the change in actions called laws on a local, state and federal level? When is America going to be sick of racism and weed it out of our society? What more needs to happen for. This situation to become dire enough for politicians to want to move forward with this agenda with no room left for error.
How will the American people survive if that doesn’t happen soon?
With hate filled incident like this happening daily.
